In Memoriam
Picked up a couple of nice Montipora this afternoon. Got a free Goniopora out of the deal as well as a rather sickly Goniopra that I'm going to try and coax back to life.
The M. peltiformis should lighten up a little and the polyps are neon blue. It's becoming a fairly common piece, but still one of my favorites. The pictures don't do this one any justice at all.
The blue M. danae could be a really nice piece (possible Superman). The base color is a purple-blue with a brighter blue on the tips, along with deep, deep red/maroon polyps. You can see in some of the pictures that the polyps on the growth edges are bright red, and the polyps on the main body of the piece have some red on them as well. Hopefully under better lighting (SM montis like lots of light!) I can bring out the color this piece really should be.
I'll be snapping some pictures of the Goniopora (both pieces) once they polyp out. The sickly one is going to be a pet project of mine! Gonis are my favorite coral, bar none, and I've had success with them in the past. Hopefully these will continue the tradition!
