Well, I dont think I'll order from the same guy again if he wont put in heat packs. This time the water arrived at 59 degrees...

Other than that, it all looks OK.

The 2" Xmas island goldflake is healthy and active. I'm excited about this one, it will certainly be the small fish in the tank though so I hope the other fish dont bother it. I'm going to make certain it's eating well and comfortable before I put it in with the big boys.

The 3.25" achilles looks to be covered in ich, so I'll probably start treating tomorrow night or else the next day, depending on how he settles in. Or maybe I'll get lucky and it's just some type of stress spot that will go away when he settles down. He also has a tear down the center of his tail, but I suspect that will heal real quickly once it starts eating.

All in all, pretty fish :) One more coming in on Tuesday then hopefully I'm done stocking my tank for a while. It looks kind of empty now with just 4 fish in there.

Beautiful! Those should be some good additions to your tank. Goodluck with the Achilles, how do you plan on treating the ich? What is the other fish thats coming latter?

Very nice!

A Gold Flake is an Angel that I have always loved. Never had one, but always considered getting one.

I hope that the fish pull through for you!

Those are both beautiful fish:eek2:

I love the achilles, I really wanted one but all the reading I have done says they don't do well in captivity, do alot of people keep them with success?

Good luck with all the new addtions!

Very nice, Recty! I picked up my new additions yesterday too--a tiny Goldflake and a nice XMas Emperor I have been wanting to get since you got yours.

Thanks, everyone. I'd like to say I took a large part in their good looks, but all I did was buy them at this point ;)

As far as the ich goes, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I have copper to treat with if needed. As long as it isnt a really bad case, I think I'm going to just let him ride it out in QT, only if it gets bad will I treat. I'll probably hypo the whole DT within the next month or so once I get all the fish into it, so I'm thinking that will be his main treatment, as long as he can last until then he probably wont be treated chemically.

I'm just playing it by ear though.

As far as achilles in captivity, if you dont know what you're doing, it's a hard fish to keep.

I HOPE I know what I'm doing. Also, I got it pretty small (3 inch) so it shouldnt be too set in it's ways yet and a lot easier to adapt to captivity than if I had bought a 5-6" version which is what normally happens.

I have all the components needed for long achilles life, the only thing I need now is a good healthy fish to start with.

I checked this morning and he is still alive and looks alert.

Sweet, you'll love the emperor, really an amazing fish.

I know, everyone has them but still, it's a great fish :)

Is your goldflake from Xmas as well?

Yes, and I think I got them from the same diver that yours came from.

Sweet fish Recty! Definitely fooled me on what fish were coming in! I think I know the last one though :) Goodluck with the new arrivals! Sucks about that diver, what a d%&$! Hope you have lotsa flow in the 210g and the big boys don't mess with the new guys! Can't wait to see everyone in the big tank. I am getting 2 new fish tomorrow as well!

Nice, make sure to post pictures :)

I've got 4 Koralia 4's and 2 Koralia 3's in the main tank, plus about 1000 gph of return flow going through there too, I think it's enough for the achilles for now anyway. I can always up it later.

I will, hopefully tomorrow I'll have new pics up, but I like keeping secrets haha. That is a good amount of flow, especially for a FO tank! About 35x turnover. I've read you need +50x but have seen achilles doing just fine in much less flow. I have 1 K4 less than you (well now 2 since my 3rd is having problems) and my return is half as yours. I won't have an achilles in this tank, but next one maybe. Let me know how yours does, do you have a diver in aussie for your next fish? :D

I wish I had a diver in Aussie land, I'd be ordering a conspic :) Unfortunately I dont.

I've heard achilles need 50x flow too but I'm not worried. I swam with them in Hawaii and they were literally playing in the crash zone of the waves. I cant even get close to replicating that in my tank... but I think I'll be fine.

I use ozone to kill parasites and maintain high water quality and I think those are two important things with the achilles, PLUS it keeps O2 levels higher than average. My ORP reading is 375 always, which is pretty good for a FOWLR, lots of oxygen in that water.

That's good, I didn't know you use ozone! Ever since you took that trip to Hawaii, your tank has been changing :) Must have been an amazing trip! Someday for me, I will get out there. Would you get a conspic or scribbled? When is the next fish coming in again? Thought it was today or tomorrow?

Yep, I've used ozone for probably 5-6 months now. It really seems to help. My water is crystal clear, my nitrates are low which is amazing considering my fish eat more by weight than I do :)

The trip to Hawaii really was great. All that really made me do though was want a Dussu tang, the angel stuff is not a product of Hawaii.

I basically just had too many triggers. They were cool, but that's all I could see was triggers. After a while, it lost it's appeal to me. I'm still keeping the niger and the goldheart though, it isnt like I dont like triggers anymore ;) I just dont want 5, two is plenty.

If I had a diver in Australia, I'd get a conspic for sure. I didnt use to like them but now I really do, they just look elegant to me, for lack of a better word.

I do like scribbled angels though, they are a pretty fish and like 1/4 the cost of a conspic.

For some reason, I thought xmas islands were near hawaii. I thought your diver was from hawaii too. Yeah, 5 triggers is a lot. I am considering 2-3 for my tank, a clown, huma and maybe a GHT, I love nigers too though. I will only get one until I upgrade though, then the rest can come in. You seem to be going back to the less aggressive FO tank that you had before (I remember you having bflys and a juvi emp before) which is nice, you get a nice diversity. I am leaning more towards more aggressive side, I have my reef for diversity.

So when is the new fish coming in? I think I have a good idea, but I was way off on these two new fish! You'll have to post a FTS when the new guys go in! Oh and I know how you feel having a pretty empty tank, I only have 2 tangs, a wrasse, couple small damsels (which reminds me, you could keep them as a CUC now that the mini is gone) and my eel, so its not too exciting, but that should all change tomorrow :D
