Some New Wrasses

Just wanted to share some pics of my new wrasses while they are still drip acclimating. I think that the stress-coloration is pretty amazing right now; they look nothing like they do normally. Hopefully it goes away soon enough.

Also, this wrasse I ordered as a tonozukai, but am thinking it is really a filamentosus. It has yellow dorsal and anal fins, and the dorsal fin isn't shaped the same way as on all the tonozukais I've seen. What do you guys think it really is?

I'm almost positive the wrasse I bought as a tonozukai is a filamentosus now. He is already chasing around the exquisite wrasse which has been in the quarantine tank for a month before he got here. I'm not sure what to do with this really aggressive wrasse now. Here are the pics to show what I'm talking about.

This is a cirrhilabrus filamentosus (whipfin fairy wrasse) is it not?

yes it is a c. filamentosus and i dig the condei..one of my favorites

+1. I think you are correct. C. tonozukai doesn't have a blue caudal fin like the one in your photos. They are closely related though.

I absolutely love this condei. The dang c. filamentosus is already being aggressive to everyone and I can't wait to get rid of him. The condei doesn't put up with it though and when the filamentosus tries to bully him he chases it around the tank displaying. I didn't realize how beautiful c. condei's colors are until I saw one swimming around in my own tank!

yes the whipin and tonos are both known to be aggressive i have kept 3 whipfins and all were super aggresive and i got rid of all them..i think i if i had a really large tank i would try them and see..yes condeis are really pretty i think and don't seem to lose much color at all without females

the Condei looks very nice... I've never seen one have the long pectoral fins...

Thanks! He looks even nicer now that he is swimming around in the qt, but it is impossible for me to get a clear picture because he moves around so fast. He has more blue on him than any other condei I've seen, and a more colorful tail too. I'm wondering if this is what a condei supermale looks like, that is assuming that there are condei supermales. I've also never seen one with such long pelvic fins... I think it looks awesome!

I'm going to try the whipfin out in my 180. I hope that the tank is big enough for him to not be overly aggressive. I wouldn't mind the aggression if I had actually gotten the tonozukai that I ordered. I think they look way nicer than whipfins, but that's just my opinion.

i too think that the tonos look better...hope to see pics of the others when u can i know how hard it is to get pics of fairys they move so fast
