Some New Zoas Coloration Is Dull-- Why?

Hey all,

Got a 6 gallon Fluval edge here. I have a UltraBrite 18w LED lighting. One clown. Tanks been up almost a year as a FOWLR

3 days ago I bought a small piece of live rock with 29 green zoa polyps on it. Most of their colors are very strikingly bright and beautiful, however 2-3 polyps seem to be lacking the coloration and have parts or a majority just kind of well not bright fluorescent green like the rest. Should I be concerned? Will they simply recover over time? Could it be part of the adjustment period? Thanks!

P.S. The two polyps I refer to are on the bottom of the cluster.

P.P.S. Does the cluster look healthy to you in general?

Within a colony you will see a variance throughout the polyps. Sometimes if a polyp doesn't get a ton of light, or other factors are different when they form, you will end up with a slightly different coloration. It's fairly normal, and I wouldn't be super concerned about it.

Even if you are concerned, there isn't a lot to do except make sure you parameters, lighting and flow are appropriate.
