Some of my non-photosynthetic corals.

Hi everyone,

Here are a few shots of some of my non-photosythetic corals. The tank has been up for about a year. It's a 48 gallon tall with a mix of SPS, LPS, and softies. I feed the corals with a combination of Reef Nutrition's Rotifeast and Shellfish Diet administered with via a dosing pump.

Very nice! Tell us about your lighting and lighting period please. Is this a dedicated tank?

Thanks! It's not a dedicated tank. The upper portion of the tank contains various LPS, SPS and softie corals, while the lower portion contains more non-photosynthetic corals. I have a 150w HQI sunpod over the tank. The halides are on for 7 hours a day, while the moonlights are on for about 10.

You mentioned that the tank has been running for a year, how long have you been caring for the dendronephthya and sponge? Have you noticed any growth?

I've had the dendronephthya just over three months now and the sponge about two months. I haven't been able to measure any growth, but I haven't noticed any recession, either. It's hard to measure growth on a dendro because they can change their size so drastically, but the one I have is open more now than when I first had it, which I guess is a good sign.

That's got to be the best looking lightning sponge I've seen in someone's tank...some beautiful stuff you've got there. Sounds like you're following the Stottlemire method....how much SD and RF are you feeding per day? Thanks!!!

hey i got a spider like that 1 to 1.5 months the zoos have not opened once that i know of and always cleaning algae off it would love some help if possible
