I have a large orange sun coral too, but its not too impressive during the day:D

Is this non-photosynthetic coral Capnella, Neospongodes or Paralemnalia?
There was a thread about them at Soft Corals Forum.
If I'm not mistaken, and it is one of them, compare how they looks in the shade and in the good light - mine grows best in a good light and water flow, but mine is a low light tank, so they are right under 55W PC.

Purple Lemnalia?

This one was sold under the same name, but is different:

One guy, who had good success with it, had it on the LR top, open to the light and flow. If you will have a frag, you may try to place it in higher light, in a good flow.
My 2 cents worth, of course :)

that looks like it...

It is in good flow.. The part that is exposed to more light seems to open up more...I will try that and take pics.

that looks like it...

It is in good flow now but mostly shaded . My tank is mostly SPS so I have almost 40x turn over. Anyway the part that is exposed to more light seems to open up more...I will try that and take pics.
I have an area that has a blow through (current that exits from a cave).. so I will try there.. I hope I can get mine to look like the one you posted.

Here is link to some of its requirements.
These on my photos - the first was in direct sunlight, but without intensive feeding for a non-photosynthetic corals, in a clean tank, and it didn't make it - even in a good light. Probably both light and food are required. The second is right under 55W PC, in the tank, fed for dendronephthya and scleronephthya, a lot of fine food, added frequently. It grows new branches, frags easily, but looks paler, that the first, not so good looking.
There were few threads about keeping lemnalia, but I can't find links right now, sorry.

I moved it to the light. It is at the bottom and gets hit with both 20k and 14k spectrum. My tank is mostly sps so I have it down at the bottom due to the intense lighting...

The coral seems to like the light, but only time will tell. I do feed zooplankton on a 24/7 basis (200 ML a day)

I have had it for about 1.5 months and there is no sign of it dying off.

What language is that reference page in....

that ref page auf Deutsch...in German. :)

I LOVE the look of your tank.. I think it must be the rockwork; just makes the tank look simple, yet impressive. Makes me think of a lagoon or something..People usually fail at making a pretty aquascape with an open look. I think you've got it spot on, my friend! Love it!

The rockwork is actually 2 large islands with lots of caves. I have found that my tangs like to swim through the caves and give ample places to sleep. I started with 3 small rocks on the bottom in a triangle, then placed a large rock on top. This created a large void for the fish to swim under.

The rocks are stacked in away so there is alot of small nooks for smaller fish.

Do you have a bigger size of your FTS?? Or some alternate angles and from above so I can see more of the arrangement?? I'm going to be aquascaping a new tank for a friend and I'm trying to get good ideas.

Thanks!
