colors and textures
I have been trying to take some decent, not too blurry, at least in the ball park of reasonably color accurate pics of my corals. This has been challenging because I run 20,000K XM bulbs with supplemental T5 actinics and straight up "auto mode" shots are way blue. After numerous attempts with various camera (Canon S5IS) modes and settings, I finally got some shots that don't totally suck. I don't think my camera shoots in RAW mode (must go check manual...), so I ended up using a custom white balance setting. I also explored other exposure modes and preset lighting settings which resulted in pics that were way off in the colors.
I know I have a lot to learn still about taking quality shots and even more about post processing of the images once captured. I welcome constructive criticism of the pics.
In general, to me they all seem a touch yellow, with overstated orange, subdued blue and insubstantial purple. Unfortunately my Orange Monti cap isn't quite as orange as it appears in its pic. My purple tip acro has deep dark purple tips which look faded or washed out in its pic. The Idaho Grape Monti cap is mega grapey but that intensity is not apparent here.
