I really don't think it's such a big deal. It's certainly self-policing. As far as eBay is concerned, if the merchandise you win in an auction is NOT what you receive, you leave negative feedback. Enough of those and the seller's account is suspended. Problem solved.
As far as e-tailers and sellers on RC, RDO, or wherever, if someone does this enough times, they are 'outed' as someone who practices this, and they lose tremendous business virtually overnight, given how fast info travels on these message boards. Problem solved.
Whomever does it won't be in business for long.
I for one have bought stuff from Miguel (organism) and can state that his corals looked *exactly* like the pics. I'm sure there are lots of other sellers who photograph under 20k or actinic that are just as reputable.
On the other hand, as mummra points out, a few bad seeds spoil it for everyone. Doctored photos are bad news, and just bad ethics as far as coral sales are concerned.
We're all in this together, folks.

good points but ebay sellers use the feed back sysem to hold you hostage. if you leave them a bad feed back they will do the same. mexican stand off. they also try other tactics to keep you from leaving a bad feed back (some good some shady) or the unhappy buyer will just leave no feed back at all. although the feed back system works well it does have it's flaws and can be worked to benifit some one who is not on the up and up.

IMO, circumventing the feeback system eventually gets you caught, and also is more work than actually selling things to make an honest dollar. I have sold stuff on eBay since its inception, and have found the feedback system to work very well. Even if you have one or two negatives amongst hundreds of positives (as I do), people will question why you received the negatives. As far as retaliatory feedback, I've worked with eBay when I had that situation happen to me, and they were very understanding and 'fixed' the problem.
As far as the feedback system being 'worked to benefit,' it's kinda like the high school kids who go to great lengths to get the answers for an exam before the exam, yet if they put half that effort into studying for it, they wouldn't need the answers beforehand. It takes a large amount of effort to do it, with little return on your time invested.
