some real ocean water in a nano?

I live in delray beach and was wondering if i could use water from the beach to do my water changes in a ten gallon nano.
I do two gallon water changes every week and id like to hear some feedback, thanks.

i live in SD where we have Scripps Ocean institute. the provide free FILTERED water for the general public. and lots of people here use it with no problems. but they do wait a few days after a storm or when there is a black tide.
so you can, but is has to be filtered. which is expencive, time consuming. better off buying a very good salt mix. i use tropic marin. IMO its good salt. but opinions may vary here...

nothing happens qiuckly in saltwater other than death.

I used to use water from the gulf side collected from a remote beach. But I got tired of hauling buckets and worrying about red tide. If you have access to a boat and can get out a ways you should be fine using ocean water, that's what our corals use in nature.

I Agree with Agu. Years ago the water around here was pristine. Now I would hesitate to use it.
If you are only doing changes on a 10 gal it seems like more trouble then it's worth. I just use RO/DI and IO or Reef Crystals.

yea i figured as much, i do have access to a boat, however, for my 29 and 10 gallon reefs its not to much of a problem getting RO. Anyone ever been to delray beach?

Thats a shame that you can't hardly get clean saltwater from our beaches anymore.
