Some seahorse dancing pics

Was taking some pictures of my seahorses the other day when a couple of my seahorses were doing their synchronized swimming and pouch displays and all that. Just thought that I would share some with you all.

Incredible photographs. Are those erectus? Out of curiosity, what type of gorgonians do you keep? Are they photo or non-photo? How do they respond to the seahorses' hitching behavior?

Yep, they are erectus, I have two pairs, though oddly, they do not only "dance" with one other partner. The males tend to push the other out of the way for the right to dance with whichever female is willing...

I have a couple of different gorgs, all photosynthetic... I have tried nps gorgs, and while I can keep them in the system (I have one in my fuge currently, a Gorgonia sp.), the nps gorgs seem FAR more sensitive to the SHs hitching. Often on the nps gorgs I have tried, when a SH hitches, the entire gorg will withdraw its polyps for an extended period of time. I moved the one I got because it was being stressed out and I thought I would lose it.

IME photosynthetic gorgs quickly become used to the hitching and then are not even phased by them... they withdraw polyps directly under a hitching tail but immediately extend them when the SH moves. A good coral choice for SHs if you ask me

I am not positive on all of the identifications, but I am pretty sure I have Eunicea, Plexaura, a couple of species of Psuedoptergorgia, and I know I have a couple of specimens of Pseudoplexaura sp.

Thanks for sharing I love when seahorses dance. Like everyone else said, those Gorgonians are awesome! good job with them and your obviously healthy seahorses.

(sorry for the delay in response, I have been out snorkeling and diving for a week looking for seahorses... didnt find any though )
