Some updated tank shots and videos

I thought I would post some updated tank shots and videos of my 220g which has been up and running since late September. The tank is mostly complete minus some new phoenix bulbs and a canopy I still need to build. Built as a peninsula tank dividing my living and dining room the tank is a mix of mainly softies, lps, and a few sps.

Fish at the moment include 5 tangs, 4 dwarf angels, 3 wrasses, 2 green chromis, copperband butterfly, diamond goby, tomato clown, royal gamma, 4 conchs, 4 emerald crabs, sand sifting starfish, 100 blue leg hermit crabs, 50 snails and numerous others I am sure I forgot.

Filtration is a 90g sump plumbed through the other side of my house to the laundry room running a Vertex IN280 skimmer, 2x 36w Turbo Twist UV filters, BRS Dual Reactors, Ranco dual temp controller, fuge with live rock and chaeto.

Lighting currently is 3 x DE 250w PFO Mini Pendants with a 14k and 2 x 20k bulbs that make the tank look too yellow at the moment especially with my GPS which look brown under the one 14 k bulb. New 14k Phoenix bulbs are in the immediate future if I decide to stick with MH's which I hope will help with colors. Flow is created by two Vortech MP40s and a Panworld 250ps sump pump.

My show fish at the moment is the juvenile Achilles tang that is about 3.5" big and loves swimming against the current in the front corner of my tank. I plan to add a few more fish before I am done and a lot more corals as the tank matures. All the fish you see eat out of my hand except for the achilles tang which I got a few weeks ago from DFS and eats from the nori clip and mysis that float by during feedings.

Hope everyone enjoys a few quick shots...If you click the first few shots they play a short video from my camera.

This is a December shot of my female Bluestar Leopard wrasse. It sleeps in the sand and overnight it changed from a female to male and looks nothing like this anymore. It now is purple and lime green with stripes.

Thanks for looking! :p

looks good! i cant to start setting up my bigger tank. this gives me motivation. lets see some pics of the achilles! that is def. my fav. fish.

Thanks...my favorite fish too. My camera is not so good and he never stops moving but I will work on some pics of him.

Very beautiful tank, Craig. Nice aquascape for them to swim in and out, and open area to swim.

I love how the MH's beam down on the rock.

Thanks...yeah I was shooting for a very open aquascape with lots of swimming area as I knew I wanted an Achilles tang as my centerpiece fish. My living/dining room is an open concept room with a vaulted ceiling and you can actually look down on the tank dividing the rooms from the hallway above. The rockscape looks like a "S" from above and the fish, especially the tangs love zipping around the center channel.

The MH's are not up to my standards yet as I had bought 3 X 14k Plusrite bulbs off ebay to try the colors out. Two of the three bulbs burnt out within a couple weeks and the remaining bulb I have placed in the center as it is a more white light. The outer 2 MH bulbs are Ushio 20+k bulbs that came as freebies when I bought the pendants used over the summer. They are really blue and make the tank look almost purple in spots. I am leaning towards 3 x 14k Phoenix bulbs as I mentioned early but I still may explore doing a T5 fixture instead.

I just picked up a 150w 20k bulb from elmers by Coralife and it looks great. Was going to order the 14k Phoenix's, but I needed a new bulb ASAP.

weird. I'm not happy with the colors of pulserite (i.e a 14k looks closer to 12k or even 10k), but I never had a bulb burn out on me, and I ran them for about 7-8 months before changing them.

Yeah my one remaining 14k is definitely more yellow now than when I first installed it. I saw Ray's 14k's Phoenix bulbs the other day and they are more what I was hoping for with the hint of blues. The weirdest part is looking at my GPS under the different bulbs. They are a beautiful green color under the 20k ushio and a really browned out almost tan color under the 14k.
