something in the sand

I was just looking in my tank and I noticed that I have what looks like maybe a featherduster. However I'm not sure. It has eight arms and a pinkish red and white stem the pink is at the bottom, any other ideas. I havn't added anything new to my tank but sand in the refugium, Where did it come from and what else could it be? sorry no pictures my brother has my camera with him on vacation in Florida. Does anyone have a sight for featherduster id's
