Something odd in my Zoanthid colony

I am new to corals and everyone is doing great. But I purchased a multi colored Zoa colony from my LFS. There are some much larger brown with white specs zoa's in the colony. They open up much larger and are growing much faster than my reds oranges and greens. And they are ugly as sin. I will try and get a photo tonight. Any ideas?

Carefully remove them from their base with a sharp pointed knife.
If that's what you really want to do...

You want to do it. Looks like common brownish-green fast growing ugly protopalythoas, maybe 'texas trash' (yes they are really called that lol) You will want those out of there.

Careful when cutting or working with them, they are toxic. Including to us. Read up about paly toxins.

Some people find them pretty. I mean I love palys. But not THOSE ones I mean. Those I would just keep in a tank I did not care about. They grow too fast and take over.

Thank you! I will remove them. With gloves :)

Some people love those polyps. They are found together in the ocean just like that and many times they don't grow that much faster then the other polyps.
I don't think they are that ugly, but of course not as nice as the other ones.
They do add some texture to the rock.
It's just a matter of taste...

The problem with the orange zoas has probably nothing to do with the "ugly polyps" there.
The orange ones look pretty bad on the picture.
You need to figure out whats's going on in your tank.
Look for predators and check your water parameters, light, etc...
Good luck.
