I had something odd happen today, or at least i noticed today. On my 220 i have dual overflows with gate valves controlling water levels in the overflows. This morning when i came down to check on things i noticed the safety drain was flowing. I replaced the filter sock thinking since it was clogged up that that was causing the high level in the overflow. Wrong. So i checked the screen on the drain which was completely clear , so that wasn't it. So i opened the gate valve to see if something had gotten wedged in it. With the valve wide open it still did not change. So then i checked the overflow panel. It had algae in the slots, so i cleaned that. Even removing the panel did not change anything! I looked at the other overflow and it was also nearly full. So as a last resort i gave the gatevalve on the return pump a little twist and that was it! It seems that the vibration of the Dart over the course of 8 months vibrated the valve slowly open causing the water level to rise beyond what the dual 1" drains could take at full siphon. One good thing i did find out is that the safety drains will handle things pretty well. So keep an eye on gate valves that are subject to vibration!
