Is that with an ATI Procolor or with a Fiji Purple?
I thought I remember you saying you were getting or had received a KZ Fiji bulb?

Regardless, the tank looks amazing. Awesome job!

This is with the Ati Pro color. I am really liking the bulb. It add "pop" to my corals that I have never seen. I highly recommended it.

Austin: Thanks! :D

I like the cave, whats going in it?

Thanks. There is a cave to the lower left and the lower right of the aquascape. I have two large serpent stars that hand out there along with my larger fish.

I tried catch some of the fish the other day to move to a larger tank but I just couldn't catch them. Ill keep trying, but I am not going to tear apart the reef just to catch them.

Sunny,

The aquascape is beautiful. Now how do you keep the 2 yellow tangs from fighting with each other?

They stick together and fend of the sohal. The sohal used to be a nice fish and then one day he just went berserk. He is very aggressive now. I tried pulling ALL the tangs out the other day but couldn't catch any.

If the two yellow tangs weren't sticking together they would be dead by now.

Would you recommend a pro color with 2x250w Pheonix 14ks?
I was considering just doing two blue+ to supplement my phoenix bulbs, but was thinking of trying a Blue+ with a fiji purple, pro color, or super actinic.

Well, The procolor's effects are subtle so the MH's may over power them. I would add a blue+ and and Aquablue special with the pheonix14k's.

Looking very good. I'm jealous of all your beautiful acans - my imperatur developed a taste for acans/micros, so I had to relegate mine to the frag tank for the time being...

Seeing your tank, I'll have to give the procolor another shot...for some reason I liked the tank better running fiji purple instead of the procolor...

I actually got the bigger acans from a friend of mine who wanted to add angels to his tank.

I have not run the fiji purple and am curious to run it. I will see if I can get a hold of one the next time I replace my bulbs.

the procolor can really work some magic, looks beautiful!
have you actually tried the fiji purple as I heard they were half blue half red in spectrum and may get the same effect just a little more subtly?

I have ran the procolor before, but not the fijipurple. I'm about to buy some new bulbs and was wandering which direction to take.

I have never run the Fiji purple so I cant comment on it. From what I have seen it looks nice and puts out a decent amount of PAR.

Hey Sonny,

I'm currious, you mention in the Prodibio thread to me NOT to use Phosguard or other phosphate removal media, and yet here you are mentioning it's use in your own set up? How come? Is it because of the "increased" presence despite the Prodibio? Were you not previously using it to begin with and now have resorted to using it in addition too?

Just curious, thanks

I am running a phosban reactor with a small amount of RowaPHOS. I have a minor issue with Dinoflagelates that I have been able to keep under control so far, but need to get rid of it completely.

I had Dino's many years ago when I was first getting into the hobby and it nearly wiped my tank out.

Because of my past experiences with Dino's I have decided to increase my dose of Prodibio Biodigest. Along with the increased dosage of bacteria I have started dosing Vodka.

I started with 0.5 ml yesterday and will follow the dosing instruction in this article: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-08/nftt/

I am hoping that by feeding another form of bacteria it will out compete the Dino's for food.

Like I said, the Dino's are not that bad right now, only enough to annoy me, but they need to be wiped out before they can get a foothold.

Very nice tank Sonny, the aquascape is really good, perfectly balanced.
The colors are also getting better every FTS.

When the dino's showed up I had to take some drastic actions. If dino's get out of control they can destroy a system. For another week or so I will keep the Rowaphos running. After I know for sure that the dino's are gone I will take it offline.

I vacuumed the sand bed today along with a 50% water change. I have yet to see the dino's show back up.

If I did not have a major issue i would not have employed the Rowaphos. The clam that died really caused some issues that bacteria alone couldn't deal with. It is always a good idea to keep some phosphate remover on hand in cause the need should ever arise.
