I bought a rather large rock this weekend that had 5-6 colored zoos on them for my larger tank. Had some nice colors under MH and VHO but not so much in ours with VHO in our frag tank:(
Well this small piece broke off at the store and I gave it to my son to throw in his Nano tank since it had some small zoo polyps on it and he woke up to this coloring this morning.
He has some really nice bright oranged skirt zoos, some bright yellows and some with Orange skirts and yellow centers coming off this. Some even have a yellow to neon green skirting to them. Picture makes them look more green than yellow like they are. Hopefully he can grow these out real well like the others and give some back :) Amazing what colors will grow off something when least expected

Sounds like Christmas came a little early for your son. I like those particular colors in a reef. BTW, how do you like those Reeflux bulbs?

Mucho Reef,
Yeah those Zoos are a nice color and have brightened up even more. He can grow things out in the Nano better than I can in the big tanks it almost seems.

I`ve been using the Coralvue or Reeflux bulbs since I set the tank up. I started with the CV 10ks and then later went with the RF 10ks and have been using them ever since. Nice white with just a hint of blue running supplemental actinics. I have had good growth out of stuff but you lose the eye popping colors that you see with the higher k bulbs.

I just ordered a new IC light and installed it with a XM 10k bulb and actinics in my other tank so I will have to see how they compare with growth and etc. Still running lower light period and screening on the top of tank right now to acclimate. Upgraded from VHO lighting on that which had slow growth.

I did notice on the IC 250 watt ballast the XM10ks are much whiter in color than the RF10k bulbs
