I have been researching cameras and have a friend who has this available for me if I wanted it. I was looking at a Nikon d40 or simular new. . . thoughts on this specific camera?

This is a picture close up using this camera so I would guess it's macro capabilities are there and I am not looking to be a "Pro" as of yet.
