I was just reading the full review of the W7 (no review for the W5 but the two share a lot of the same features) on dpreview and it lists the best macro coverage area as 6cm- not to be confused with the minimum focus distance, which is also 6cm. Minium focus distance is the measure of how close you can have the camera to the subject and still keep the subject in focus. To achieve that 6cm distance you need to be in macro mode.
The coverage area is the field of view, so to speak. So unless you have polyps that are 6cm wide... you won't be able to fill the frame with a single polyp.
