South OC People - Do you run a chloramine filter on your RO/DI?

For anyone in the Santa Margarita Water District, do you guys run a chloramine block on your RO/DI? I never have but I'm wondering if it could be one of the causes of my poor SPS coloration. I'm looking at the SMWD 2017 report and it looks like they definitely use chloramines. Thoughts?

"Customers who maintain fish ponds, tanks or aquaria should also
make necessary adjustments in water quality treatment, as these
disinfectants are toxic to fish."

I am in the same water district (live in Las Flores) but never thought about it. We have a Halo water system and never really noticed issues. I just got into SPS recently though

Get yourself some chlorine test strips from any pool supply shop and test the water after your carbon block. Contrary to popular belief chloramine will get past your standard carbon block, so it is prudent to test. You should be getting an annual water analysis from the water district that will let you if they use chloramines or give them a call.

I read the report and yeah SMWD uses chloramines. They even note in the report that aquarium owners should "make adjustments" but I've never modified my 4 stage BRS RO/DI to add a chloramine filter. I'm wondering if I can add it or if I need a new setup.

Also, do we even know if chloramines affect coloration?

The problem, one of them anyway, is that chloramines eat holes in RO membranes.

Check out BRS's YouTube channel, they have a few videos that go in depth with this issue. I'm out near Lake Elsinore and we have pretty crappy water outer here. I run a 6 stage with two BRS chloramine blocks and two DI blocks. Even with all of that, I still use Prime on all of my water as a precautionary measure. I had difficulties keeping sensitive fish alive until I addressed the water quality.

I do - it's not so much our water in Orange County it's all the water we buy from La when we have a drought. I have seen a lot of threads from reefers who say they randomly lost sos in the tail end of summer and in the fall. They swear that it's the chloramine. If you search it you can review a few threads. A few people I know use a pellet (can't remember the name but in the threads somewhere) and they say that took care of the problem.

I use sodium thiosulfate crystals directly in the water. There is a table here
https://www.edspumps.com/water-treatment/documents/Antichlorination.pdf
that one can use to estimate the amount needed. I made an Excel calculator to calculate more precisely, just PM me if you want it.
