I am currently in California, (Orange County) and I wanted to see if there were any stores around that were known to carry mantis. I was hoping someone here would have an idea.

Tongs, is right off the 405 I think maybe in Huntington beach??? Off Warner.

Generally, they are cheaply priced for fish, regularly priced for mantis, but always low quality. Well, I can really only vouch for their fish. I'm not sure how a mantis would do. But I have seen numerous Peacocks for 50, Zebras for 120-170, and the tiny yellow spearers for 20.

ANOTHER
is Pacific Reef, the one off of Brookhurst street (south of the 405) has had Peacocks. but its not that common.

i'd suggest checking all your LFS and politely asking if they ever get an hitchhiking mantis, most likely one has a couple they'll sell you cheap

I currently have 4 small smasher specimens for sale out of the inglewood area. 1 is mottled grey over a white overall body another is solid yellow not unlike pseudosquilla ciliata (but it's a smasher) the other 2 are a little larger and dark green overall with red interstersials. PM me for info on picking them up. Vivid aquariums in canoga park often has at least a single peacock for sale, you might want to contact them if thats what you wanted
