speaking of lights

I plan on putting 5 T5's on my 75. Any color combos you all can recommend? I'm just doing softies.

5 may be a lot over a 75g, but so long as they come on as 2 or 3 that would be fine.

I would do 3 blue and 2 daylight-white..

Steve at WetPets has a demo unit where you can see all the bulbs. I cant remember the names of each, but there is a yellow white, a bright white a deep blue and bright blue.

I would go with one of each white and 3 bright blue or 2 bright blue and i dark blue

So 4 4 footers would do the trick? I like that even better. Aren't some colors better for growth or does it matter with softies?

The lower kelvin bulbs are better for growth, but the higher kelvin colors are better for color....so do both.

have some 10Ks and some 20Ks

10Ks are white and 20Ks are blue

I've got 3 of the bright whites and 1 of the purplish bulbs from wetpets on my teklight. This was by Steve's recommendation at the time. Once I upgrade tank size, I'll be adding more of the blue bulbs, although the coloring in my tank is awfully nice but I think I can improve growth a bit more. (maybe I'm just being impatient with slower growing corals) I have a mix of LPS, one SPS, and leathers, softies, zoo's, shrooms. Little of everything. Some of my softies are very high up in the tank too and they are looking awesome. My sinularia I got from the UCO tank a couple meetings back has easily doubled in size and I believe it's one of the higher placed corals in my tank. T-5's ROCK!!!

Technically you could do softies with 2 or 3 T5s, but you might as well get a good ballast and do four lights. I prefer growth over color, so I like my tank a little whiter. You could do a 10,000K, 14-15,000K, 20,000K, and an Actinic for a broad range of colors and a blue look with good coloration or you could do 6500K, 10,000K, 14-15 or 20,000K, and an Actinic for a wide spectrum and whiter color.

I like growth too, but I also am very partial to the blue lighting, I just like the look of it. That and some of the euphyllia like the blue lighting due to the depth there found at. And they are my favorites! But I think my softies are still getting really good growth under the whiter lighting I'm using right now.

i got 2 blue an 2 white T5s on my 75g that i got from wet pets..

What scott should really be saying is that he has a crapload of rics and yumas and zoa's...... =o)

He's got a very nice collage of them and they do look so colorful under the T5's.
