Ive located 2 spearer Mantis, so they spear fish instead of smashing snails. Neat- on feeding one throw in some cheap fish or??? Any advice on Mantis spearers Is appreciated! =)

You can feed them Silversides, krill, fish fillets, squid, Octopus, mussels clams and oystuers (all out of the shell of course), and any other meaty marine food you can think of. Unless the Manits you have found are Bumble Bee striped its probably a safe bet you are looking at a P. ciliata, and keeping them works like keeping a Smasher Mantis because current evolutionary thinking is that they reevolved into a spearing mantis from smashing mantis. Biggest difference is they aren't nearly as hard on your clean-up snails as smashers, and the damsels I usually recommed for keeping with mantis will be stalked and eaten.

But naturally live feedings are the coolest. :D

to add what thurge already stated, it is also good practice to soak the frozen food in a supplement once in a while.

much of the food mantids are fed is bought at the grocery. if you go this route, you'll need to wash the food after thawing. Also make sure that the frozens are uncooked and unflavoured. avoid any weird chemical crap if you can.

oh, and an obvious one: use a feeding stick... you dont wanna stick your hand in there if you dont have to.
