Speedwave DC-10000 2,640 gph Return Pump

Thought i would post this as i see many "Which Return Pump" Threads...I have a 90 gallon Display and 25 gallon sump. I have been through 4 return pumps searching for my needs. I set up a single pump manifold system as i did not want numerous pumps and one to run the whole system. I have 2 BRS Delux reactors, JBJ 1/5 chiller, and into my tank. I started with a mag 7thinking that would be enough. Not anywhere close then went to a Eheim 1262 while somewhat better, still again, not even close. Then went to a Rio 26HF.. This was better but still on the manifold was not enough.. reactor was trickiling water and was at best 150 GPH through my chiller. After more reading on RC and about, i settled on the Speed Wave DC 2640 pump. Needless to say, I need no more pump upgrades. It is running at 50percent or the 3 out of 6 lights, Ultra quiet(have to open the cabinet and put my ear to the sump to hear it. sounds like a turbo on a car for reference) It too is very good with watt consumption. My apex showed with the rio at night with all out but the return running i was pulling 1.8 to 2.1 amps and now .06 to .08 amp draw. I am very impressed to say the least. I will post pics and setup later but Great Pump!!! Just hope i get good longevity from it.

+1 Scuzy.. Kick myself for not purchasing it from the start. I too believe you could run it in a less demanding ruturn system on its lowest setting and save energy and have great return flow rate.

Yeah I love the fact that you can dial it down and power consumption will lower. No longer need to use and gate valves.

+1 I am willing to bet these are the future of return pumps or should be. I will never own anything else. I am buying another to have as back up pump and getting rid of the rest of my pumps..

Try to put the controller on different place and not on the power supply. They are good pumps and I got 3 of them also waiting for the 12000. The only thing I don't like is that the power supply getting to hot and the plastic cover getting apart ... I got this on 2 pumps right now and hope it will not coause any damage.

It is mounted beside my apex display on the out side of my cabinet.. I only laid it there for photo purpose to show both controller and power supply. I did realize the power supply gets warm. I have had mine a week now and did not notice the power supply getting warm enough to separate but mines not full bore either. It's warm but just average i would say. Thanks for the advice though... A 12000??? What is the rated GPH on that one?

It's around 3.170 GPH ... and a soon as they out I will receive one. my return line are 1" all way without elbow... and I can push more flow... I got before the RD-2 and use more flow but the impeller was rust and I dump the pump. for 3/4" return line without to much elbow in plumbing... the DC-10000 is perfect pump.

Woosh! That's alot of flow. You are using 3 10,000 now? Your sps is loving you!!

Is this really 2640? The reason why I ask is because I have the RLSS version and at full, 1 1inch drain can handle the full return which i thought was kind of weird.
