Spider Conchs?

Was wondering if anyone had much experience with these? A LFS got them in and they look pretty cool. Not sure what exact species they are, I know some get really big, but they would be going in my 1700g tank so room isn't a huge issue. But are they reef safe? Do they survive in captivity a long time? I can't find much info anywhere on them.

i had one for a few weeks and it looked to me like i didnt have enough sand area to make it happy. it stayed on the substrae 100% of the time. it didnt bother anything except when it got into a corner.

You said you had it a few weeks... did it die or did you get rid of it?

it died, im not sure why exactly.
