Spiny sea urchin mystery

I recently purchased a spiny sea urchin. it started off acting fine, but it just disappeared (yesterday):sad1:. I have found 3 needles in various spots, and it is nowere to be found (it is about 1 1/2in in diameter).:worried:

Do you mean a longspine sea urchin?
Is the test (shell/body) 1 1/2", or the entire urchin?

Shedding spines can be a sign of water quality issues. Is your tank new?

One thing I do not advise is picking up the spines bare handed. I'm not necessarly sure if they're still venomous or anything like that but better safe than sorry (assuming this is a black long spine or short spine urchin.)
