Splitting mushrooms

Anyone know how you can Split mushrooms? I have four huge shrooms on one rock I want to split. I was told to slice the whole bottom of it and let the stalk grow another shroom. I was also told to take a razor and slice it right in the middle of the mouth. I think that this will kill it. Anyone have ideas let me know. Thanks

If they are big it will be easy to cut them at the stalk. The foot will regrow there and then cut the rest of the mushroom in half or quarters. I like leaving part of the mouth with every piece, it's not needed but they seem to regrow faster that way. I prefer a sharp pair of scissors.

You were told right. In addition, you can pizza slice the cap making sure that a segment of the mouth is left on each frag. A far more successful way is to just cut it in half on the rock. It won't kill the coral.
