Sponge eradication?

Fish&Chips

Found this stuff growing under my scroll coral then it spread all over the rocks and along the back of the tank.

I cleaned out and re-established my tank, but now it's coming back.

What is it and HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?

It feels like paper pulp when pulled off if that helps.

This sponge is very invasive and I don't want to deal with it anymore.

I took it out the first time and scrubbed it off the rock with a tooth brush that and the air didn't kill it so now ***.

Since sponges are usually harmless filter feeders, I'm not sure why you would want to get rid of it. It looks pretty cool to me.

Many people like sponges. You might be able to sell it.

Sponges usually need lots of nutrients and generally don't like a lot of light.

If you turn the rock towards the light, the sponge may go away. If you don't have a protein skimmer, buy one and the sponges will probably go away.

Best of luck,

Roy
