sponge propogation

I have a bright yellow sponge that came with a yellow polyp frag that I would like to move and if possible, propagate. How is it done? The yellow polyps seem to are overtaking it - will they sting or damage it?

Sponges can be propagated by taking a bit of sponge and break it up, kind of like putting it in a blender and then dump it back in the aquarium. Sponges are spores and will attach to new surfaces to start a new colony. They seem to do well on the undersides of rock, not in direct light. some photoplankton can be used to feed them.
