spot feeding my blu linkia!!!

i have had this blue linkia for over a year now, and i tried to spot feed him before with no luck. he has eating some of my blue sponge before. but i notice a dead snail in my tank yesterday, i was goin to take it out but i figured "free food" for the hermits. i saw a blue leg eatting it, and then my linkia came and sat on it like he was goin to eat it!!! hes been on this snail since last night at 10pm its now 10am. i was wondering if anyone tired to put food into a shell and let the linkia get it out himself??? once he gets off it im goin to put some mysis shrimp in it and see what happens. if that doesnt work they sell can clams at the supermarket. i will try those too. its spot feeding but he has to work for it so maybe it will work!!

Very interesting observation. I've had no luck with Blue Linckias, so if this works, I'll be intrigued.

was he working his way in the general area before the snail was "sniffed"?


maybe he just stumbled apon it and took advantage....

well i was moving rocks around and he was in the way so i picked him up and moved him next to it. i wasnt thinking about it he just happen to fall next to it. and when right on it. but i was thinking about this today. if he doesnt eat the mysis or the can snails i can always buy snails in the shell. i have seen them at resturants before, but if that doesnt work i could buy live ones from lfs and freeze them to kill them. then defrost and put into the tank. i can live with $1 a week to feed him. well he is still on it, going on 24hrs!! i hope he isnt having trouble getting it out. those shells do get small in the bottom. as soon as i see him off it im goin to take it out and inspect it to see if he really ate it. ill keep u posted

also... make sure hes not getting high on ammonia!!! haha

well i was tired of waitting, and i wanted to make sure he ate it. i took him off it and sure enough it was gone!! i tired to feed him mysis but i dont think he is hungry. so i am goin to wait a couple days and try again. hopefully it will work!!! he mite have been high from the ammonia and got the munchies!!lol lets hope not!:lol:
