For what it is worth
For what it is worth
I have have 11 baby maximas (3 gold, 8 blue). I got them all around 1 inch. I have 7 in my main tank in tupperware containers, and 4 in a frag tank.
All are under 250W DE halides. Ca at 425 and DKH around 11. They are all on the bottom ( 22 inches from the light in main tank, 13 in frag tank)
I grow my own phyto (nano sp.) and use it to feed. I feed a lot since it grows like crazy.
The ones in the main tank get removed in the tupperware and fed every other day. They ones in the prop tank get phyto added to the tank daily to feed the frags.
The ones in the main tank that I remove to feed are now 2" and the ones in the prop tank are about 1 3/8". They all seem healthy, but the ones that get removed to feed are growing faster.
No idea if anything else contributed to this, but I am now a beliver in putting them in a bowl, leaving them in there and taking them out to feed them. I hate the tupperware in my tank, but that is the way that it goes with small clams.
I have also found that salinity around 1.020-1.022 will make the happier as well. No idea why.
