spot feeding sps, worth it?

I just purchased some phytoplex and zooplex, is it worth spot feeding sps with these? Or just broadcast feed it in a powerhead and call it good? Has anybody noticed increase in growth/health in spot feeding sps?

I have never bothered spot feeding sps, I don't think it makes much difference spot feeding sps, therefore not worth the extra hassle

Simple answer in my opinion is yes. They have hundreds of mouths for a reason. Just a tip whatever you feed them needs to be very small, powder like works best.

i have phytoplankton and zooplankton, is there other things i should spot feed them?

I also feed Reef Nutrition Roti-Feast and Oyster-Feast....

zooplex has a micron size of 800, way too big for sps (I've used it before for LPS which responded well to it..that was 5yrs ago before I realized LPS just eat what the fish eat). SPS nor LPS eat phytoplankton so neither of these products should be spot fed to sps. phyto is used to feed microfauna which spawn and feed your corals or simply for microfauna diversity. can do more harm than good if over used or system is not mature. I'd trash the dead preserved phyto(plex) and use superior live phyto like DT's or Reef Nutrition ect if I were to go that route.

Rotifiers are about as big of a food you want to feed sps. Otherwise oyster eggs and zooplankton based products with micron sizes of under 200 are ideal for sps (the smaller the better IMO).

As for target feeding blah, thats what good flow is for. I'm not turning off my pumps and loading up intramuscular needles so I can marinade every colony in a cloud of food. at night time with the lights out when the sps polyps are most extended I dump in the food and let the flow and corals do what they do. I did try daily target feeding oysterfeast for what its worth. that lasted about 2 weeks before syringing, getting hands wet and turning off the pumps became old.

phyto is for filter feeders like sponges, feather dusters,pods and other microfauna.zooplankton it depends on the micro size the smaller size, sps will take the bigger size, lps and fish.

Oyster eggs would be best as they are small enough for the polyps to take in. Otherwise, the stuff you bought doesn't really do much except increase the nutrient level in your tank. Some stuff may benefit, but a lot gets filtered out by your skimmer or whatever filtration system.

+1 on oyster eggs my sps love it.
