I noticed dirty-whitish spots on my Pterapogon kauderni yesterday. The fish were received the other day but I have not quarantine tank so I put they into my reef tank, with turned on UV sterilization. Could you tell me what is best way to solve this problem. Fishes looks not bad and can eating.

In spite of good nutrition and water condition spot on the fin getting bigger. I noticed also new spot on the body. Can’t figure out is it brook or Lymphocystis of something else.

Is it good idea to try formalin in other tank for short time?

Hi,

of course, i can not be for sure but I am suspecting it is not brooke.

How about water parameters? Lymph is not all that of an uncommon thing, however, it looks like 'flufffy' patches and from the pic it looks like its the fin that is bigger, meaning the whole fin looks bigger..

Is it the actual fin or does it look like something is just hanging there?

check water quality, if it is Lymph one thing it can be is less them optimal water quality, and more often then not it will disappear by itself.

Hi Hattie B

Water parameters are not bad:
NO2=0.05ppm
NO3=0
PO4=0.03

As for the fin, fish has grayish-white 'flufffy' patches on fins, due pressure of this disease one fin (right) is smaller then other.

Yesterday I used formalin and it looks like the fish getting better. One problem today i cant catch this fish
