Could be a coral sting, battle damage from another fish, or even the very beginnings of a bacterial infection. How long have you had him? Any aggressive tankmates?

Ive probably had him 8 months and I bought it from a local reefer who had it for a bit too. Theres no aggressive tank mates in my tank. Every fish leaves eachother alone. Last night there was a white piece on the side of him. Almost looked like a piece of my gravel sticking to him. Not sure if he got poked my my live rock or stung. Or even and infection, im not sure. Im not saying the white piece was a small rock but that's what it looked like.

Assuming the fish is still eating & swimming normally, I would just sit tight for now and observe closely. But if the spots begin to spread, grow or look infected you will need to QT & treat w/antibiotics.

Yeah I really am not sure of the cause but he was healthy as a ox before that. He is still acting fine and everything so maybe it will clear up. Getting a QT setup Tuesday though incase.
