Spotted Cardinalfish question

Does anyone have experience with them?

I wanted them for my tank but since I have only a limited fish list with my 40G breeder I didn't want to get them if the school would be to small for them to thrive. Has anyone kept them singly? Would a school of three be enough?

The other fish would be two clowns, a firefish and depending on the amount of cardinalsfish I could keep a gobie or a blenie

thanks

I had three in one tank, I now have one. I would go with one of the smaller cardinals if you want them to shoal. I never saw that behavior with the three spotted in my 50 gallon.

2 of the 3 turned on the third one. Once the third one was dead, I split the two remaining ones to keep them from fighting.

I tried 3 in my tank just to see what they looked like before going for a school in my 190. Like pstank1, 2 formed a pair and turned on the third. They have been fine with each other ever since.

My personal opinion is that they are not colorful enough to keep singly or a pair. the reason that I would want them is for a school or shoaling effect. I do plan on getting more when they become available.

I personally would not have any problem keeping 5-6 with a few other fish in a 40G.
