First off my lil mandy is doing great eating pods from the 2 fuges also eating frozen and flake.

The reason I am posting is to see if anyone can help me to determin the sex of mandy. what do I look for?

I think I have read female spotted madarin are rare and the way to tell them is that they have a smaller dorsal spine. mine has almost no dorsal spine I was hoping I may have a female. anyone got pictures or someing?

well i am not sure what you mean by spotted, but no doubt you are talking about a mandarinfish, males have extended first dorsal rays, and according to a book im currently reading males are generally equipped with brighter colours and extentions to the dorsal and anal fins, have to say i havent noticed this with the mandarins at my lsf but apparently this is the case, hope this is accurate and helps, if not blame the book

You sex them by the large spine on the dorsal fin. The male has it and the female doesn't. Its not as clear to see on the spotted (target) mandarins as the psychedelic (green) but it is still there. If yours has absolutely no spine then it will be a female.
