Thx lawrence. Secound pep comes wed. And another narcosis coming also. I bumped into koji at house of fins. I couldnt believe the pep deaths. He lost 3 of 9. Ted and nya lost theirs. I count like 5 out of 14 ish deadsville. Not great. Koji tolad me they are keeping them at closer to 73 not the 76 they were supposedly found in. For the moment i was keeping mine at 75.5 to 76. But i turned dn the chiller 1 degree today to 74 74 .5. I cant tell for sure bu fish seemed more active after that. Today i picked up some rare butterflys and a unnamed wrasse from house of fins. Wrought irons ,tinkers , etc. for my 180 system

there were deaths too in the first batch of peppermint that went to Koji earlier this year...
5 loss out of 14 is quite a great result...paracentropyge is quite a difficult genus..other 2 fishes of this genus that come in the trade,multibar and venustus,have far less survival record...perhaps 1 in every 50 collected manage to settle in aquaria..and you don't need rebreather to collect them...

I was also surprised to hear from Koji about his loses, I hope that his advice on lower temps, helps!

BTW... I don't recall ever seeing anyone leaving HoF with styros full of fish! Nice score !!!!

Alfie. Great meeting you also. The amount of fish yesterday was truley awsome but realize that i ordered the tinkers and wrought irons and some others weeks before the event, and they wanted to keep them for me so that they could show off the fish at the event. Plus i had some ich in my 180 frag butterfly tank so it was good ideabto let them keep the fish. So what you sw was over a month of orders plus some... That i all picked up on sat. BUT. .... While i really like those guys and love the place for their unmatched inventory....i do realize their prices are 30 to 100 per above market. And the credit card gets oodinium and cryptocaryn after shopping there. Lol.

Btw there is an incredible conspic in that 180 also. In 2 days its eating like an animal. So much so that i really think it came from someones tank not wild.

Not going to believe it but narcosis went into shock in drip bucket and died. I owned fish for an hour. I think we made mistake in floating the bag first before dripping. Nya temp was 79 and pep tank was 74. We think the 30 min float chilled fish too fast. He did not look good the minute he went into dripping bucket where we dripped over 2 hrs.

Ah that's sad. Sorry for your loss. I agree, that is a huge difference in a span of 30 minutes. But aren't they found over 300 feet below? Temperature can't be that warm as compared to Nya.

That's definitely better than nothing. I still find something off about the situation. Please correct me if I am wrong. Wouldn't them keeping that fish in 79 degrees be too warm? How long was it at NYA? Were they trying to slowly adjust the fish to cooler temperatures? But as you said, we will never know what actually caused him to die. I am sure they will take care of you.
