I have recently got a new red sea max 130d and thinking of just stocking it with just sps but I would still like a few fish and shrimp etc, is this wise or should I keep it a coral only tank? All so I was wondering what would be best to put in the built in sump area at the back? Should I stick to the standard filter media, ceramic rings etc or should I go for something abit more natural eg LR rubble? Any help would be great :)

There is no reason not to keep fish that are reef safe in a reef tank! You do want to keep a lighter bio-load in a SPS reef tank to avoid algae growth and maintain the highest water quality, but as long as the fish you add do not nip at the corals add them. You can use filter media, but it must be cleaned every 3-4 days of it can increase your nitrate levels. I would not use ceramic rings (cleaning/nitrate issues), but rubble rock is fine.
