Sps and high light

I am kinda kicking myself right now because I am being impatient. I recently added a halide to my nano cube to increase growth. My sps aren't bleaching, but I am experiencing something I have not in the past. It's been about 5 days now every coral in the tank expect the red and green planet acros which are showing great polyp extension in shaded areas, with that said the areas exposed to the strong light are about 50% extended. So there is polyp extension it's just not full masted as usual. I am running 250 reeflux on 150 watt via galaxy select a watt balast about 6 inches from the surface. My water has stayed the same. Could this just be them getting used to the new strong light ? I did switch from LEDs
Any help will be appreciated greatly. -Addison

I did see this myself also. Give em a little while to acclimate. Raise the light if u can and bring it back down slowly.

It certainly sounds like some typical light shock so i'd follow the wise advice given by greenhead or at least drop the halide time to about 4-5 hours and slowly build it up. If nothing is looking deathly pale after 5 days i'd be confident everything will come around of its own accord eventually even if you just left things as they are. You now owe us pics of the corals when they settle down again - the price you pay for advice in the SPS forum........

I'd suggest staying patient. It can be hard to see significant change in corals 5 months let alone 5 days. I wouldn't worry. Just play it safe and acclimate slowly. Pics would be great as well!

My humble attempt at a fts, should I reduce the time on the lights by an hour or just stick with it ? Moving the light is a pita which is my fault for installing them the way i did. I am seeing new growth on almost on every coral including the green planet! Color seems to be improving on a daily basis as well!

I would drop to about 4 hours for a week and then add an hour per week until you get to 8-10 or so mate. You need to drop it back more than just one hour i'd say.

Thanks Biggles! It takes a lot of water testing ph/alk /cal daily and everything else I test weekly.

Small update! Again I want to thank everyone who posted. I reduced my photoperiod by about 2 hours, the corals are looking much better. In fact the purple monti is starting to encrust on surrounding live rock
