SPS and LPS frag tanks?

So I was originally going to build a 24x48x8 frag tank out of 3/8 acrylic. I came across a good deal and picked up 6 icecap DE 250watt pendants and ballast's and 2 400watt SE pendants.

I want to keep a few softies but mostly sps and lps

Question is should I just build 2 24x24x8 tanks and keep LPS in one and SPS in the other?

If you were two build two tanks would they be plumbed together?

If so, it does not matter.

No I would not plumb them together. They would both drain into one sump/fuge.

The water will be mixing in this case. So making 2 tanks will not be much of a benefit unless you are going to run the drain of the tank with softies through carbon to remove toxins.

I thought that the sump/fuge would filter the water enough to make it worthwhile.

Nah.
Any alleopathy would most likely still exist sharing the same water column.

Even running the softy tank through carbon would require diligence and some amount of prayer to ensure it would work correctly.

Separate systems for the serious farmer.
