Is it possible to put SPS, LPS, and soft corals in the same tank? Would 70 watts of MH over a 12 gallon tank (16.5 inches tall) be enough light for SPS? Would a 14K MH bulb be the right spectrum for SPS?
It certainly can be done with careful planning and good filtration/water changes. 70w would be ok, but if you could find a 150w, that would be ideal, IMHO. You could just keep it off the water a little at first to acclimate everything.
I have all 3 (sps, lps, and softies)in mine as well...i run 2 phosban reactors 24/7 (1 with phosban and 1 with carbon) I change the carbon every 2 weeks and the Phosban every month.
I will put new tank pics up soon so u can see.
Softies have nature provided defense mechanism. They wage an unseen chemical war in the tank. The carbon removes these harmful chemicals and allows them to all coexists.
It can be done, yet caution is needed....you dont want things killing each other........here is a shot of my 55g in its glory....full on SPS, LPS, Softies, zoos, mushrooms, ricordias, clams, etc.
yes i run carbon 24/7, i change that once a month.
SN....yes it is...it does look bigger....as you see i had to upgrade...the 55 was getting full .....120g is 6 months old now and growing up nicely. i do miss the 55g though....it was rockin!
