SPS Compatibility Question

I'm seeing some tanks where their SPS' are almost, if not already, touching each other. I've always read that you should not let corals touch or be really close to one another as they sense it and excrete some toxins in the water. Is there a compatibility matrix out there that tells you which corals can and cannot touch or be close? Or is there just one particular species or a certain set of species that I should be concerned of in terms of it's closeness to another coral? Thanks.

They will sting each other. Never had any noticible chemical warfare in my SPS tank. I do have some LPS and no softies. Soft corals are usually the ones you think of releasing toxins into the water column. But nothing that running activated carbon wont assist with.
