please help!

My LFS gave me a free frag of what appears to be montipora that was dying in his tank. Well im pleased to report that it appears to be recovering nicely in my tank. Fine, great, I purchased a frag from him yesterday assuming that I can move on to other sps and guess what ITS DEAD. After only a day its pure white ARGGHH i had it near the top in a medium to high flow area but no in direct shot of a powerhead.

I told him and he gave me a free frag. This one wont even open when the first only hours before purchase had amazing extention.

Any advice? I want to place an order for the sps pack but not at my current rate :( one that was dead in the LFS is recovering the pieces i buy in great health failing and fast! what to do?

rickrude,

Thank you for your post. We will gladly assist you in determining the reason why you are having difficulties with your corals. Prior to offering any specific recommendations, we will need some further details from you. If you could please provide us with the following information we may be able to assist in diagnosing the problem.

1. How long has the aquarium been set up?
2. How large is the aquarium?
3. When were the water parameters last checked?
4. What were the results of the water tests?
a. Ammonia?
b. Nitrite?
c. Nitrate?
d. PH?
e. Temperature?
f. Salinity?
5. What specimens are in the aquarium?
6. What changes (if any) occurred before you noticed the problem?

We would certainly recommend a quarantine aquarium for new stock, especially as the health has been questionable for you.
