sps damage

Hello everyone, purchased a acropora week ago and the polyps are gone and the brown color is white. I checked my water parameters and my values are good. Ca 420, kh 8, nitrate 0, Mg 1350, Ph 8.1, Sg 1.025, Temp 78-80. Today I reached in my tank and was shocked, I immediately turn off all electrical and traced all my connection. My chiller pump was the culprit. Could this have caused damage to the sps? I lost 3-4 sps and a yellow tang. I have a pigmy angel, coral beauty, sailfin and a purpletang. Occasionally I spotted the coral beauty and the pigmy nipping on the acropora but only for a short second. Thanks... for any input FYI I have adequate lighting 3-250watt 10k halides and 2-t-5, also good water flow. Tank size 180g mix

I don't know too much about stray current being the issue, but you should definately get that resolved for your own sake.

As far as what's causing you issue, I think you fish are the issue. If you've only noticed them periodically nipping at the acro, they are doing this far more frequently when you aren't looking at the tank. Most will tell you that Coral Beauties are hit or miss, but my luck with them and SPS is not good. I had one that destroyed a few of my colonies a looooong time ago when I first started in the hobby. They can do a number on SPS.

Good Luck
Jason
