Sps Dominated Biocube 14

Xenia do not seem to release toxins. I have shredded as much as I can and never saw any ill effects.
I loved Xenia when I first added it to my tank, but now that my tank is SPS dominant, I wish I didnt have them because of how much it takes up space and shades the sps. Id remove all the xenia if you still are able to as you might regret it later once the tank is more mature.
Im going to try a fluke tab remedy to kill all of mine.
That's funny because I was the same way. I started my tank in sept. but it was a mixed reef and the xenia was a hitch hicker. At the time, I thought it was nice, so, I didn't mind. But now that it looks like it is about to choke out a frag of pearlberry and rose millepora, I'm not to happy with it. It is also threatening my coco worm.

I would probably slice them off the rock as well Jack. I wouldn't worry too much about the toxins. If you are going to worry about them, simply slice them off before you do a nice water change. You'll be running out of room quick; you better get that new tank planned out. ;)

I just finished taking down the 65 this weekend. When you decide to move to a bigger tank, let me know. I have some frags waiting for you if you'd like them. They're pretty much good to go, but they'll for sure be clean when you upsize.
Alright, I'll just do that. And you know I'd like them anytime and yes I have run out of space. I am now planning on settin up a 40 breeder. Andrew thought up a sweet aquascape that I'm probably gonna do.

Yeah, I'm excited about it. If I get the ATI sunpower module for the 40 breeder should I get the 4x39watt or the 6x39watt?

4 would likely be enough. I'm using 6 overdriven T5s over my 40 breeder (IC reflectors) and it is arguably (or maybe not so much so) too much.

The pros are higher PAR rating, but it cuts down on the life of the bulb. It's a tough call on the 4 or 6 bulb fixture. They would both work, but you'd be able to grow SPS at any height with the 6 bulb fixture for sure. I'm not sure about the 4.

I would like to get the 6 bulb that way I would have more possible bulb combinations, but would the 6 bulb fix. be too wide for the 40 breeder?

True, but I generally push the time frame on them anyway. 9-12 months, though the spectral shift gets obvious after that lower mark, IMO/E.

Yeah I found the dimensions of the 6 bulb fixture and its not that wide to my surprise so I'm going to go with that one instead of the 4.

Here is an update:
I moved my maxima up to the top so it would get some more light about 3 weeks ago. It seems to like it!

I wanted to add another fish, so I decided to go with a starry blenny. But, my sixline disagreed with my choice to add another fish so I was forced to take it (my sixline) out. A week later, the lfs I work at got some a brood of tank raised true/picasso clownfish and I couldn't resist.

Last but not least, I asked my boss to order me a carpenter's flasher wrasse, unfortunately it was DOA. But, in the same shipment came a Debelius Fairy Wrasse! So, I got it!!
