Sps dying.

I am having a downturn in my tank. I am losing SPS. I lost a huge red Monti cap about the size of a basketball. It was in my tank for 1.5 years. Now I am noticing my green Slimer is starting to bleach at the tips and work it's way down the branches. I am really not sure what is going on. I stopped dosing vinegar about a month ago. Thought that was it.

CA 440
KH 8.3
Phos 0
NO3 15-20 this has been this high for a long time and np's.

I am dosing 2.0 ml of KH solution from BRS everynight via gravity drip. I only feed every other day. Temp is at 80. Any help I'd greatly appreciated.

The first thing youre gonna need to tell us is the last thing you did or anything changed right around the time of these problems

Any chance the gravity drip malfunctioned and dumped all at once or didnt dose at all? Any new additions?
Lighting changes?
Do you have kids?

how long was your tank on the sauce?(carbon) were you following a schedule with it? Did you stick to it or dump some here and there. Measured doses? Did you see those nitrates come down during the dosing? Any lightening of the coral while dosing? Cold turkey stopage on the dosage?

Tip down bleaching(rtn here sounds like) typically due to alk spike during dosing of carbon. temp could play a role as well. What are the daily swings? Hot weather lately rise temps higher than usual?

When the monti went, howd it go?

I dosed every night carbon. At the height it was 50 ml. And it was slowly dripped also. I did quit cold turkey. And from time to time I would miss a day of carbon but not much. The lights are 14 months old 6 t5's. The Monti started losing color over time turning white, even the pieces in the frag tank. I didn't add anything during this time.

Tank temp never rose above 82. No malfunction on the ALK. And when I was dosing my ph never changed any higher or lower than .15.

Mg is around 1000 my salifert Mg test turned bad the other day. Granules turned white. I test about every month. Was around 1100 last month.

What do u feed the fish every other day? How much? If u dont have phosphate/algae problems i would ramp up your feedings to once per day.....c how that goes for a bit.

Mag is low. I would bring up around 1300 to 1400 as I said this can cause ALK swings and we all know how SPS hate that.

Will the white parts of the acro come back and stop receding? Weird though my purple stag is not affected as well as my 2 Millie's.

if it's STN there is a chance. I had few survivors after my alk issue. Also you can frag effected corals it will increase your chances.

I would first ask how you grew your monti to the size of a basketball with only a KH drip.
Why are you using so much KH and no Ca? How are you keeping your Ca at 440?
When you say KH are you talking sodium carbinate or are you talking Kalk?

The lights are 14 months old 6 t5's.

Are your bulbs 14 months old or just the light fixture?

Lack of nutrients possible?

Seems doubtful with NO3 up to 15-20...?

No phos issues. I run GFO.

How much GFO? Have you changed it out lately? Are you overdoing the GFO?

Mag is low. I would bring up around 1300 to 1400 as I said this can cause ALK swings and we all know how SPS hate that.

I would replace the bulbs for sure. Usually I notice my corals would get grumpy when the bulbs became about 9 months of age.

Yes I do dose CA but not much. My tank only uses about 10 per day. I also dose with the sodium carbonate. My light fixture is almost 3 years old. The bulbs are 14 months. Changed the GFO a few weeks ago, but I am needing to replace it in a few weeks. I change it about once a month.

I am slacking on the bulbs I am hoping to replace the bulbs with LED's. Planning within a month.
