SPS growth or lack of.

You are correct, Shaun ... Just fine

Some of us strive for more than "just fine" from this key component of a reef system.

Supplemented with T5s, particularly the spectrum/lamp choices Swanny has intelligently implemented, the Ai Sols have the ability to step past the "just fine" title you eloquently labeled them with

"Some" of us do strive for more than just fine, correct coralreefdoc.

In this instance, a blanket statement made about this "key component of a reef system" being the problem is the problem.

...and that's not "just fine".

How about pests? Logically, you would probably have muted polyp extension if you had pests, but just something to think about. I had red bugs years ago and I barely saw any growth in my acros over a period of over a year. Once I treated for red bugs, growth took off.

ph 8.3. alk 9. I am pretty sure I am just expecting too much. The frag plugs are completely encrusted and as i said polyps and color are really good. I just need to be more patient it seems.

Do the plugs that are encrusted and appear to have some growth fall down a lot from where you place them, because it could just be the coral hasn't settle down and got comfortable yet some of my corals took 6 months before I started to notice vertical growth.. I also notice some of my corals grew much faster after they were glue onto rocks
