My 90 Gal mixed reef has been up for 5yrs. All of a sudden my slimmer colony is turnig white. Tank parameters are all in check. But the tank has been running HOT 82f. I have also noticed redbugs, can they kill coral or just suppress the PE? My blue acros and peach digi all look fine. I really dont know what the problem could be. Please help.

Hot temps could very well be the issue? Are your temps changing often or did they gradually climb?

I had my temp this summer at 86 degrees without losing a single frag. While temp is a general suspect I would bet it is the result of ph or alk swing. I dose kalk every hour and this help keep things stable. I have discovered either add kalk or kh buffer is helpful.

I don't think 82 is that high. My tank reaches 84-86 on hot days with no problems. I would look for other problems,...pests or water quality issues. And yes, red bugs will cause stn, poor pe, paling of color. Quite often, people with red bugs, also get aefw. I know I did.
