SPS Holding Tank / Frag Tank

Was thinking of setting up an SPS holding tank / frag tank for temp use ie. 1 to 2 months max. Can I get away without using skimmer? I also can not hook this up to the main system due to space constraint.

Can I get away with just powerhead and weekly waterchange? maybe carbon in a bag? I will not be putting any fish on this system.

How do you guys have your frag tank / holding tank setup and what is your equipment list?

yup, live rock and a power head thats all ya need..

have a std 20g with live rock,power head and led pendant. Do a 5g water change every couple weeks and syphon out bottom of tank. One blue damsel that rarely gets fed, keeps pod population under control. A couple emerald crabs to keep knocking stuff overand keep it interesting, had some hydroids on rock they took care of.
Used tank as frag/quarantine till set up larger frag tank. Tank is turning into a zoa, ric tank but still works great to quarantine any new sps frags. After going through RB, MENB, and AEFW will never go without QT again

so skimmer less holding tank / frag tank would work then? I wasn't planning on putting live rocks also was just going to go with the egg crate to cold the corals. was also just planning to take all the initial water from the main system so that I can use it right away.

I'd throw a hang on filter in there as well they are cheap
