SPS Issues w/Pictures

So...a couple of weeks ago I had a Alkilinity spike that I think caused some of the sps to bleach. That problem has now been corrected. But some of sps seem to be slightly worsening (I think). I'm not really sure. Please tell me what you think & how I should react to this. If the Alk is better now, wouldn't the problem stop?

That's what I was thinking too. I don't understand why it continues to get worse if the issue is corrected. Is it stress related? And if so, why would fragging a good piece make the difference if its all part of the same coral??

+1, Looks like tissue necrosis to me. Also, I didnt check if you did, but you might get some better answers if you ask in the SPS forum.

Fragging off the healthy portion of the coral stops the rtn from spreading to the rest of the healthy tissue. IME, it usually does not get better once the problem is corrected.

Looks like tissue necrosis to me too. Even if the problem is fixed the tissue will continue to recede. You're better off fragging about half an inch above the dead skeleton than waiting for it to reverse itself.

This does not sound promising! It's terrible to have something growing for years & to see this happen. I feel helpless!!

Unfortunately the sps are growing onto HUGE pieces of rock. I cannot dip the corals unless I break them off.

Every time i have been "blessed" with the privelege to have RTN/STN, it usually never fixes itself. Fragging it up and then doing a dip in something like tropic marin pro coral works for some, but I have not had much luck with stopping tissue necrosis.

Would a dip in Revive be recommended?
