Hello, I am thinking on buying a 70w MH fixture for my tank and I was wondering if sps can thrive under 70w I have plan to place them in the top part of my tank? Thanks

I'm going to say no. I believe a minimum of 150w is what most people recommend. However, I am not 100% on this.

On a 24 gallon tank? I think you should be able to get away with some sps for sure as long as you keep your parameters stable.

Yeah I secondJames keep your water nutrient free and keep adequet flow< stable alk ,cal and mag and you should do ok as long as you don't choose too demanding of corals.

A 70 watt HQI would be fine but why not get a 150 cost is only a little more and it will be better. I say go with a 150 watt like the Coral Life clamp on with a XM 20k or Phoenix 14K bulb in it or the JBJ 150 Viper with the same 2 bulbs.

i have a 150w on my 24g aquapod, and still need to really keep my sps middle to top. 70w won't give enough spread either, and you will only be able to put anything right in the middle top.
